Aviendha has been doing extremely well. On the day she was born she was not breathing on her own and so was put on a ventilator and given surfactant to help her lungs. She handled that well and was off the vent and on oxygen by Wednesday night. On Thursday she was able to come off the oxygen and is breathing on her own. She is also eating out of a bottle (and LOVING it) and sucking her binkie!! She had her first bath on Thursday and looks absolutely precious with her bow!! There are so many little wonderful things she does that means so much to us. Avie loves being uncovered and sprawled out-her feet are always hanging out. She had some beautiful smiles for both mommy and daddy last night. When she cries it the sweetest-her chin moves at a million miles an hour!! We held her for the first time Wednesday night and gave her her first bath on Thursday. On Friday she got to see her older brother. She was able to be brought to the window so he could see her!! Rand was so excited and kept exclaiming how much he loved Aviendha.
Jonathan is doing well. When he was born he was breathing and crying much better than his little sis. He was put on oxygen but on Wednesday he was struggling and was put on the Cpap machine. He was taken off by that night and we were able to hold him. Thursday I was able to change his diaper, but that night he was not breathing very good and so was put back on the Cpap machine. On the machine he is doing well, he really just needs some help for a little while. He is quite mischievous, he loves to pull the cords and wires out of his nose which has led the nurses to put booties over his little hands. He has the cutest toes, the fourth toe on each foot curls under the others. He likes to bundled up more and Loves being on his belly-which we can get away with in the NICU because of all the monitors.
Both of my babies are precious angels and I cannot wait for the day I get to bring them both home!!
